Sobre European Digital Finance Association

The European Digital Finance Association (EDFA) is an independent industry body representing national fintech associations across Europe. It provides a common voice for the digital finance sector and engages with EU institutions to shape regulatory frameworks that support innovation and competitiveness.

Established in February 2020, EDFA brings together over 13 national associations from countries including France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the Nordics. Its goal is to connect Europe’s fragmented fintech ecosystem and encourage pan-European dialogue on digital financial services.

EDFA works on key policy areas such as the implementation of PSD2 and Open Finance, the development of a digital euro, decentralized finance (DeFi), digital identity frameworks, and regulatory sandboxes. It provides expert insights and represents the industry in European-level consultations and initiatives.

A central aim of EDFA is to help create a unified European digital financial market. By advocating for harmonized licensing rules, cross-border data sharing, and fair competition, the association seeks to reduce fragmentation and enable fintech innovation to flourish throughout the EU.

EDFA plays a key role in connecting fintech innovators with policymakers and regulators. The association participates in EU consultations, contributes to legislative proposals like MiCA and the review of PSD2, and fosters an open dialogue to ensure policies reflect real market needs.

Through partnerships and networks, including collaboration with platforms like Finnovating, EDFA links over 2,500 fintechs across Europe. It helps startups and scale-ups navigate regulatory challenges, find partners, and expand across borders in a supportive and coordinated environment.
